GnomeMade Art Book Series

Series Overview

Welcome to GnomeMade Art, a series of books highlighting the basics of different artistic mediums and techniques. Delightful gnomes with charming personalities teach practical information and explain fundamental processes in fun and imaginative ways.

This series was started because I love helping people make art and try new mediums. The text for A Gnome’s Guide to Ceramics came together easily because it was a collection of basic information that I tell people over and over in my classes when they are just starting out. The gnomes add some fun and hopefully help people relax and not get overwhelmed by the information. As I work on Book 2: A Gnome’s Guide to Monoprint, I’m striving to again share essential, basic information in a way that is engaging and rememberable. —Becky

Book 1: A Gnome’s Guide to Ceramics

Join the inquisitive gnome Milo as he learns how clay is transformed into ceramic creations. Milo’s wise friend Decker explains greenware, bisque, glazing and more as they watch the artist go through the entire ceramic process to create a brand new gnome friend. A Gnome’s Guide to Ceramics takes beginners through the basics of ceramics in a step-by-step way that’s both easy to understand and remember. Colorful pictures in a contemporary graphic novel style bring new life to an age-old process. This book is a wonderful resource for schools, libraries, ceramic studios and art enthusiasts.
